Applications and Challenges of VR/AR in Future Urban Life
Abstract: VR and AR have shown their great potentials as promising future media that would revolutionize our monitors and mobile phones. They have already benefited broad applications such as real estate, construction, public safety, and, more recently during COVID-19, telework. However, they all face unique challenges in urban life. In this talk, I will briefly discuss my recent research on advancing immersive media towards being low-latency, energy-friendly, space-efficient, and human-aware.
Qi Sun is an assistant professor at New York University, Tandon School of Engineering. Before joining NYU, he was a research scientist at Adobe Research. He received his PhD at Stony Brook University. His research interests lie in VR/AR, computer graphics, and visual perception. He is a recipient of the IEEE Virtual Reality Best Dissertation Award.
