Congratulations to Juan Pablo Bello, Director of CUSP, who has received the 2020 IEEE SPS Signal Processing Letters Best Paper Award for his research on “Deep Convolutional Neural Networks and Data Augmentation for Environmental Sound Classification.”
Along with co-author Justin Salamon, a former CUSP postdoctoral associate, the paper included research done as part of the Sounds of New York City (SONYC) Project. The paper was published in IEEE Signal Processing Letters, one of the top publications in the field of signal processing.
Director Bello and Justin Salamon will receive this honor at the 2021 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP 2021) in Toronto, Canada. 2020-21 SPS President, Ahmed Tewfik, will present the award.
