  • Congratulations to Assistant Professor Yury Dvorkin, who has received a grant from the Electric Power Research Institute to study risk management in electric power systems and electricity markets.
  • On December 4th, the Sounds of New York City (SONYC) Project held a community noise forum with residents of Chinatown. The event was co-hosted with the NYU Center for the Study of Asian American Health, as the culmination of their AARP sponsored collaboration, project SHUSH. The event presented data from SONYC sensors at Chung Pak senior housing in Chinatown.
  • Assistant Professor Giuseppe Loianno led a full-day workshop on “Perception, Learning, and Control for Autonomous Agile Vehicles” at IROS 2020. The workshop brought together heterogeneous communities working on aerial robots, mobile ground vehicles, and autonomous cars to discuss the next research challenges in the area of agile navigation of autonomous robots and vehicles to achieve super-human maneuvering and racing capabilities in dynamic and challenging environments.   • NYU CUSP is pleased to announce its 2021 call for Capstone Projects, open to city agencies, private sector companies, and academic organizations interested in co-supervising an applied urban analytics project with CUSP graduate students! The 6-month Capstone Program is the experiential learning focus of the MS program, teaching CUSP students to utilize urban data science techniques within the constraints of political, social, and financial considerations, as well as address issues of data privacy, validity, and transparency. Learn more about the 2021 Capstone Program and submit a project proposal by 12/10 here.

  • NYU CUSP is currently seeking candidates for our 2021 Smart Cities Postdoctoral Associate program, with a tentative start date of September 1, 2021. Successful applicants are expected to work on interdisciplinary projects that contribute to methods development and foundational knowledge in their core disciplines, as well as to novel data- and technology-driven applications.   • As a part of its Artificial Intelligence Initiative, New York University invites candidates to apply for tenure-track positions in AI. The search is conducted jointly by the NYU Courant Computer Science department, the NYU Center for Data Science, and the NYU Tandon School of Engineering; the faculty appointments can be in any of the three units, or joint.
