Meet Our Inaugural ClassWarren Reed

Warren graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelors of Engineering in Chemical Engineering in 2009. He was very active on campus, where he served as Class President for three consecutive years. Upon graduating, Warren started his career on Wall Street as an Analyst in the Structured Capital Markets division at Barclays Capital. Warren then founded Columbia Technological Services, a technology firm that provided data-driven solutions and led to his interest in pursuing data science more formally.

In the Fall of 2013, Warren joined the inaugural class at NYU CUSP, driven by his interest in broadening his technical background in an applied data science program. While working on his Masters degree, he also worked as a Data Scientist at Gro Intelligence, a startup company building a cloud data platform for agricultural commodity data and analysis in African markets. His Masters’ thesis focused on building a spatial scan statistic model to detect event and anomaly clusters using semi-supervised machine learning techniques. He integrated data from multiple sources including 911 calls data, private 311 data, financial, business and weather data.

After graduating from CUSP, Warren joined the US Department of Treasury’s Office of Financial Research in New York City, where he will conduct applied research on the financial markets.
