CONVOCATION

While graduation is months away, there are a number of administrative processes you will be responsible for during the spring and summer semesters that you should start planning for.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

1. Apply for Graduation (mandatory)

If you are completing your capstones and final degree requirements this summer, you must apply for graduation. The graduation application period is now open and closes on June 16. Please submit your application as soon as possible. It is your responsibility to apply for graduation via Albert within the application period.

 2. Participate at the All-University Commencement (optional)

Invitations for the All-University Commencement are mailed to all those who have received degrees or advanced certificates of study in September 2017 and January 2018, and to those who are degree candidates for May 2018 (Learn more about eligibility here). However, students who are completing their requirements during the summer may also participate by completing the attached form  and returning it to Sattik Deb. Participation is not mandatory but certainly a memorable experience. Please read the attached letter regarding the All-University Commencement for details.

3. Participate at the CUSP Convocation Ceremony (your participation is encouraged)

CUSP’s convocation ceremony will be held on Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Skirball Auditorium, followed by a cocktail reception at 12:00 pm at the Rosenthal Pavilion.  Additional information regarding our ceremony, including registration instructions will be sent out in June. CUSP’s ceremony is an opportunity to invite your friends and family to watch you as your name is called and achievement recognized.

For international visa invitations (for parents), please visit this site.

4. Order Academic Attire (mandatory for participants)

All students must wear academic attire (i.e. caps & gowns) if you are participating at either the All-University Commencement ceremony or the CUSP Convocation ceremony in August. You must order your academic attire here by April 3 if you are planning on participating at the All-University Commencement ceremony. If you are planning on participating at just the CUSP Convocation ceremony, you may order your attire between June 5 – July 5.  All attire will be delivered to Sattik Deb and you will be advised when to pick your order up.

There are no limits to the number of guests you invite to attend the ceremony.  You are welcome to invite as many friends and family members as you would like.

International guests may need to apply for a U.S. Visitor Visa (B-2).
